Short description

The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) is the executive body responsible for economic, financial and budgetary policy, planning of public investments, coordinating public expenditure and verifying its trends and tax system. In addition, MEF plays a central role in the IT enhancement process of the Italian public sector, and has participated in several projects funded by the European Commission, such as PoSeID-on, SUNFISH, INTERLINK and ETAPAS. 

Role in the project

As Project Coordinator, MEF will lead WP1 “Project Management” and will be responsible for the overall coordination of the activities, including quality assurance, risk monitoring, control of the project scheduling and progress, support to decision-making, financial and administrative coordination. Furthermore, MEF will lead Use Case 1 “Edge-decentralized data management” based on the NoiPA platform. The use case aims to validate the GLACIATION output by improving data movement and service delivery through edge technology. MEF will also contribute to project’s dissemination and communication activities.

Role in the project

IPTO will spearhead the fourth pilot, titled "Smart IoT for Enhanced Grid Efficiency and Resilience". This initiative will integrate smart IoT devices into the grid to bridge the gap between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT), enhancing the system's efficiency and resilience. The pilot will focus on optimising data operations from an energy efficiency, green, and privacy preserving perspective in new data centres located in Attica, Cyclades, and Crete.
