On September 3, 2024, the Lisbon Council presented at the "Data-driven Applications for Exascale Supercomputers" workshop during the EMCIS Conference in Athens. This session featured the talk, "Data for Sustainability: Sustaining Economic and Environmental Security in the Era of Growing Data Volumes and the Advent of Multi-Scale AI," spotlighting the innovative GLACIATION project. Through advanced AI and high-performance computing (HPC), GLACIATION is pioneering sustainable data operations, aiming to secure both economic and environmental stability in an era of expanding data needs.

Hosted by NTUA and GRNET, the workshop explored the potential of AI integration with computational mechanics, showcasing impactful use cases in biomedicine, climate simulations, and beyond. This event underscored the promise of advanced technology in addressing global challenges through efficient, sustainable data management.
